VLAN interface and protocol not showing 'up'

I'm fairly a rookie with my Cat 3524's....here goes-->

I have a 3524 with an additional VLAN created in addition to the default. I have live DMZ servers plugged into the 2nd VLAN. I've changed the port access for those ethernet ports to the 2nd VLAN. When looking at the results of 'show vlan', it shows the 2nd VLAN as 'active'. When looking at the 'show int vlan 2' results, it shows the VLAN 2 interface and protocol as being down...why is this? Any suggestions?

I appreciate any help.

You can have only one interface VLAN up and up in an XL/2950 switch. Since this a Layer 2 only device, VLAN interface is used only for management purpose and there is no benefit of having multiple VLAN interfaces up and up

Thank you-->But just to verify....what is a good way to be sure that my 2nd VLAN is doing it's job?

Check for connectivity between 2 devices in the 2nd VLAN

Everything has been working just fine....I wasn't sure if there was something else I needed to check. DMZ is up-->thanks for your help.
