VLAN Routing by 4006 with Supervisor II Engine

Hi I have the followings;

Chassis 4006 with modules;

- WS-X4013-Supervisor II Engine

- WS-X4306-GB - 6GB Ports

- WS-X4424-GB - RJ45 - 24 10/100/1000 Base-T

Can the above hardware spec perform VLAN routing ?

If NOT, what else of module should I include ?

If I have another 5 Cat 3550 with fiber uplink to 4006, how do configure the VLANs in this case.

Please help.

regards,

The CAT4006 with a Sup2 cannot do intervlan routing by itself. You'll need a Layer 3 module(WS-X4232-L3). The new Supervisor 3 which runs IOS does Layer 3 routing by itself. For your other question, Make your 4006 the VTP server, the 3550's the VTP clients and configure the connection between them as dot1q trunks. With this setup, you can create VLANs on the 4006 and they get propagated to the 3550's. But you'll still need to assign interfaces to whatever VLANs you want. The following page should help
