vlan1 can't Accessible

We have two 6500 switches running as vtp servers and 6 2950's as vtp clients.

When we connect PC's to default vlan (vlan1) they can't communicate with each other.

But management ips can be reached from one switch CLI to other switch management ip.

It can be seen some sort of intermittent problem but not sure for now.

Other vlans are OK

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hello,

I assume you have checked basic things like the subnet mask of the PC client. Can you post the config of one of the VTP server switches and one of the VTP client switches ?

Regards,

Georg

I know this doesn't answer your question, but you may not want to use vlan 1 as your data vlan as packets are untagged.. Potential security risk there..

Make sure the switches are all in the same VTP domain. They have to be, or you will not be able to communicate with all the switches. If this is ok, make sure you are not adding switches to your VTP domain with a higher revision number than the current one for that domain, or this could cause an overwrite of the port information such that you could lose connectivity. This can be fixed by setting the revision number to zero and/or putting the switches to be added in client mode such that they could propagate information, yet not make adds or changes. Hope this helps. Good luck.
