VLANs and 3550

1) 3550s are verified to be acting as VTP clients. When rebooted, they revert to VTP servers. Anyone seen this, and what is the corrective action?

2) Ports are setup as dot1Q trunks for telephones with data vlan ID 35. Only PCs are connected at this time, and they are operating correctly. "Show vlan" indicates that all active ports are registed to VLAN 1. Why is this?

Re: VLANs and 3550

Hi,

1) never seen this error. I'm using Cat3550 as VTP client with no problem. Have you configured VTP mode via config or VLAN database?

What is the "sh vtp st" output before and after router reload?

Is there vlan.dat file on the Flash?

2) If VTP VLAN prunning is enabled in your VTP domain you can see no VLAN35 ports when no IP phones are connected.

Regards,

Milan
