Hi i am bit new to layer 3 switches......can some one plz help me out configuring vlans on 6509 and 4506.....thanks and regards

Hi Quroo,

This is very simple. Nothing special. If you just want to create VLANs, however please let us know the business reasons behind the requirements and we shall be glad to advice you over the complete solution.

To create VLAN on any of these switches (assuming both are running on 12.3 IOS onwards) the following commands would do:

Swtich(config)#vlan 2

Swtich(config-vlan)#name Marketing

Switch(config-if)#ip address x.x.x.x y.y.y.y
