VMPS and 802.1x compatibility question

Can VMPS and 802.1x run in the same switch? I'm planning to implement 802.1x but there are some devices in the network that don't support it and they tend to move from time to time. I'm planning to use VMPS for them instead of static port security.

I can only speculate since I haven't tried using both features simultaneously, but I don't see why there would be a problem with having some ports use .1x and others use VMPS. The .1x documentation for the 6500 series mentions that a given port can't have both .1x and VMPS enabled simutaneously, but doesn't mention anything about these features being incompatible on a global level.
