VPN Client cannot access LAN Shared Folders

Remote Access using VPN Client 3.5.1 does not allow to access any lan workstations shared folders. Remote user is able to ping to the lan workstation ip address, but cannot see or connect to the shared folders.

Any guidelines are most need. Tq.

Re: VPN Client cannot access LAN Shared Folders

This is most likely because the client does not receive the broadcast packets that contain and update the information about shares etc.

Using a WINS-server or an lmhosts file can help in overcoming this problem.

It should also be possible to attach to a share with a command like:

net use x: \\ip-adress\sharename

This works also if you cannot "see" the share in your explorer.

Re: VPN Client cannot access LAN Shared Folders

Thanks for your info, Leo.

I realised that I need to have "Client for Microsoft Networks" as a components for the connection to allow logging on to LAN network.

Well, it's certainly a requirement and now I can access to the share.

Rgds,

Fern.
