As far as I can understand it our Catalyst 4500:s with 12.113)EW IOS doesn't support VRRP but only HSRP.
Do you think that VRRP will ever come to theese or is it more used with ordinary routers? Is VRRP considered better than HSRP except that it HSRP is Ciscoproprietary?

My guess is that Cisco may not port it for this hardware. As far as I know, both HSRP and VRRP serve the same purpose although I am not sure about finer details. All I know is to use VRRP when you have non cisco devices in the network.

My experience is more w/ dual msfcII in 6500 and I run
them in single-router-mode. Can you verify for me that
I won't be stuck running HSRP in a redundant 4507
configuration? SInce the secondary supervisor is only
partially booted does this mean all layer 3 interfaces on
the secondary supervisor are shutdown until switchover occurs?
Thanks very much. Larry
