Cat6509-v6.3(3a)-SUP1
I want to SPAN two different admin port w/ diff speed to one dest SPAN port.
For example:
port # 6/42-10Mbps-Half duplex - Port to SPAN-VLAN100-No trunk
port # 6/43-100Mbps-Full duplex - Port to SPAN-VLAN100-No trunk
port # 6/48-100Mbps-Full duplx- SPAN port-VLAN100-No trunk
==========================
> sh span ---> gives belwo output
==========================
Destination : Port 6/48
Admin Source : Port 6/42-43
Oper Source : None
Direction : transmit/receive
Incoming Packets: disabled
Learning : enabled
Multicast : disabled
Filter : -
Status : inactive
=======================
Q.1: Can 6/48 SPAN 6/42 and 46/43 corrrectly, as both ports has diff speed?
Q.2: Shouel I see 802.1p/Q header, If i connect snffer to 6/48?
Sniffer is no VLAN (NIC does not support it).
Q.3: Is it valid scenario? If not what is best bet?
=======================
Thx

Kal,
Q.1: I see nothing wrong with this configuration. But you do have a possibility of oversubscribing your destination port.
Q.2: You should see all packets that traverse these ports. If these are not trunks, you should not see 802.1Q headers.
Q.3: If you want to sniff packets from resources connected to ports 6/42 and 6/43 and send copies of these packets to port 6/48, then you have a correct configuration.

Thx for reply!
BUT
Once i enable trunking on Cat6509 ports and then i have to explictly use SPAN. Becuasse of port availabilioty limitation I am forced to use HUB and once i use HUB then there is PROB with trunk ports.
i.e:
MORE SUBNETS in ONE HUB BROADCAST DOMAIN...Right?
Let me put in a simple way.
I want to verify that host that is connected to Cat6509 is sending correct info of
Layer 2 - VLAN header with 802.1p/Q priority value to Cat6509. What would you suggest? OR What is best way to put HUB between switch port and host connected to that switch port to verify Layer2 802.1p/Q info?
Correct me if 'm missing anything.
Kal
