VTP domain using ISL & Dot1q

Hi,

i have here 6 cat 3524 and 3548. There are all connected to the same VTP domain but some are using ISL and others 802.1q.

(Though interfaces that are connected together use the same type).

I mean, 2 sw are using ISL

2 are using 802.1

and the 2 switches in the middle are using both depending of which interface.

CAN that be a problem ?

thanks in advance !

Re: VTP domain using ISL & Dot1q

Hi,

it should be no problem as far as your trunks work correctly.

Don't forget VTP works only on trunks, VTP frames are sent always in VLAN1.

There might be problems if you deny VLAN1 on the trunk, I've noticed some bugs - VTP and CDP not working on Cat3550 running some IOS version, e.g.

What is your problem behaviour?

Regards,

Milan
