Ever switch r still running there own VLAN.

Both switch are trunk and encapsulation is Dot 1q.

Re: VTP Mode

what is the VTP domain name that you are using. Make sure that you have same domain name. Also check if VTP password set on either of the switch.

Please paste " show VTP status " and " Show VTP counters " from both the switches.

HTH, Please rate if it does.

Re: VTP Mode

Hi Mansoor,

Check this from your first output

Number of config digest errors : 21

from your sh vtp counters which means there is a password mismatch.

So just reconfigure the password on both the ends and everything will be ok.

HTH, if yes please rate the post.

Re: VTP Mode

Ok thank you, it start to work,

but some switches which connect with the client L3 switch r still not updated.

But, Thank You, again

Re: VTP Mode

Hi Mansoor,

If all the switches which are connected to client l3 switch are Cisco switch and have VTP domain namd and password and have a trunk connetion between them they should work.

Can you check if the trunk is up and running between client l3 switch and other switch and also same VTp domain name and password.

Also check for VTP version number as it should be same and if the are in VTP client mode or not.

HTH, if yes please rate the post.

Re: VTP Mode

Hi Mansoor,

Try 'sh int {fas/gig mod/num} switchport' on the trunk links to determine the operating mode of each interface and to determine if trunking has been established.

I noticed in the client config that 7 Vlans are reported, this is 2 more than normal i.e you should only have 5 i.e (Vlan 1, 1002,1003,1004,1005) if you hadn't learned of any others.

Can you do a 'show vlan brief' to determine which ones you have learned ?

Regards,

Phil.
