Re: VTP testing

Hi Bkaren,

Configure one switch in VTP server mode and another switch with VTP client mode with same domain name.

After that create one vlan on switch which is in VTP server mode and then check the "sh vlan" on VTP client switch and if you see the same vlan exist on VTP client switch this means VTP is working fine.

Make sure you have the trunk between the 2 switches.

Also VTP is to have same vlan information throughout the network. VTP server is a switch on which you can create , delete and modify vlan and whatever you do on vlans on server mode switch it should also be there on client switches.

But by anychance if you see vlan information is not same on clinet and server switch this means VTP is not working fine and then you have to check the trunk between the 2 switches and the domain name and password if you have configured any.

To read more anout VTP read this doc
