VXR drops connection every 120 secs

Hi,

The ISDN is dialing out to PRI line in 7206VXR. The VXR is dropping the line at approx every 120 secs. Then the ISDN is dialling out and gets connected to VXR. Again the VXR is dropping after every 120 secs. I am running Version 12.1(6.4)in C7206 VXR.

I am using the same config in 7206 running 12.1(7) which is prefectly alright. Is this a bug or config problem? See if debug (from the originating router) help u to troubleshoot.

Thanks for posting the debugs. Here is one instance of the disconnect:

*Feb 28 19:31:55: ISDN BR0/0: RX <- RRf sapi = 0 tei = 104 nr = 21

*Feb 28 19:31:55: BR0/0:1 LCP: I TERMREQ [Open] id 52 len 4

You can see that we are receiving a terminate request at the ppp layer from the remote peer. Since you said it happens every 120 seconds, it sounds like the peer is dropping due to idle timeout...is it a cisco box? I would look at how you have interesting traffic setup. 120 is cisco's default idle-timeout on a ddr interface so look to see if you see no idle-timeout configured...if so it is 120(verify with "sh dialer").

Can you post the relevent config for dial stuff from the peer? Also get a "sh ver".

Josh

Josh,

I fixed the problem on the same day I posted the query. I found a diference betweem two releases. The version 12.1(7) doesn't need the command dialer idle-timeout 0. But the ver 12.1(6.4) need it. So I just added dialer in-band & dialer idle-timeout 0, as you suggested.

Thanks,

TVS Kumar
