Wakeup on LAN and VLANS

Hello,

We have about 15 VLANS and want to use wakeup on LAN to write a new images to the computers. But it isn't working from a server in another VLAN.

Does anyone know a sollution for this problem?

Regards Paul

Re: Wakeup on LAN and VLANS

Do you have inter-VLAN routing?

If you don't have VLAN routing, traffic from the server can never travel to the host.

Re: Wakeup on LAN and VLANS

Assuming you have Vlan routing enabled there's an other problem, the WOL protocol uses the Broadcast adress 255.255.255.255 . Try reading the PDF on the following location :

www.lanicu.com/whitepapers/Wake_on_LAN.pdf

That might help !
