Please how can I tell roughly from the "show interface serial" what percentage of my WAN Link is being used?

Also we have 2 links between 2 sites, how can I tell which link my packeta are going through.

Thanks

5 minute input rate 9000 bits/sec, 9 packets/sec

5 minute output rate 35000 bits/sec, 16 packets/sec

18093597 packets input, 3249015264 bytes, 0 no buffer

Received 0 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort

29052356 packets output, 560583406 bytes, 0 underruns

from the stats above the 5 minute input and output rate is the average amount of traffic that has traversed the link in the last 5 minutes. This can be adjusted to any time intervat by using the 'load-interval seconds ' command . The last line show packets out . the third line shows packets in . You can also look at the load on the interface 127/255 means the interface is 50 % utilized over the last 5 minutes . This is calculated by the bandwidth statemenat on the interface so make sure it is accurate , also load is only calculated on outbound traffic. You can also turn on ip or ipx accounting to see the source and destination pairs of conversations .

The OUTgoing utilization can be calculated from:

Serial0/0:8 is up, line protocol is up

Hardware is DSX1

Internet address is XXX

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 64 Kbit, DLY 20000 usec, rely 255/255, load 25/255

The load is 25 divided by 255 * 100% or about 10% in this case

a bit lower are input and output bitrates:

5 minute input rate 6000 bits/sec, 4 packets/sec

5 minute output rate 6000 bits/sec, 4 packets/sec

Here also, 6000 bits divided by 64 k total bandwidth equals roughly 10% utilization.

Thanks

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1920 Kbit, DLY 20000 usec,

reliability 255/255, txload 11/255, rxload 3/255

Encapsulation HDLC, loopback not set

Keepalive set (10 sec)

Last input 00:00:03, output 00:00:00, output hang never

Last clearing of "show interface" counters 1w5d

Queueing strategy: fifo

Output queue 0/40, 0 drops; input queue 0/75, 0 drops

5 minute input rate 27000 bits/sec, 16 packets/sec

5 minute output rate 89000 bits/sec, 19 packets/sec

So from the above where I have txload and rxload, which do I use. I have used both of your formulas but they work out so different.

txload - 11/255*100 = 4.31%

rxload - 3/255*100 = 1.17%

5 minute input rate 27000 bits/sec, 16 packets/sec - 27000/1920 - 1.4%

5 minute output rate 89000 bits/sec, 19 packets/sec - 4.63 %

So will it be about 4% or about 1 %?

Thanks for your help
