Web access by name not IP address

I have a Cisco 770 ISDN LAN router configured to dial our ISP, but it only

brings the ISDN line up if pinged by IP (resolves ok) and not if by

www.<name>.com

So when a browser is opened no pages can be found unless the line is forced

up.

Have I done something silly?
