Web access via local router authentication

hi ,

I need some 25 users to access the internet via internet lease line using a router. I need that the router provide some authorization mechanism ie username/password that only the 25 users can access the internet something like an ISA server from microsoft.

Can this be possible by the router itself ? or do i need some external radius or tacas server ???

Re: Web access via local router authentication

You can run auth-proxy as part of the firewall feature set on the router, but you have to use a Radius/TACACS server to download the users permissions. You should be able to get it going with any Radius server, see the very bottom of the link for Radius config examples.

See for details

Re: Web access via local router authentication

thanks for ur reply

But I jst wondering if i use a command ip http authentication aaa, can i use the local authentication of the router to achieve the same ???

Re: Web access via local router authentication

Study lock and key in the security config guide. I think they might do what you need. Users can login using username/password that is configured in the router and a dynamic access list entry is added.
