WHAT ARE HOST ROUTES IN BGP

Can anyone please tell me what are host routes so far BGP is concerned????

A host route is a route with a /32 mask, regardless of the protocol.

But actually I needed to know how the use of host routes prevents the route summzarization?And why is it deployed in MPLS?
