The most important selling point of 802.1w is that it's a standard and so compatible with other vendor products. If you are happy with PVST coupled with Uplink Fast, Backbone Fast for faster convergence, I dont see any reason to switch to MST/RSTP. Also note that not all Cisco switches support MST/RSTP
