What are the disadvantages of enableing backbone fast and Uplink fast.
Just wondering if there are any disadvantages or things that I need to be aware of before enableing backbone fast and uplink fast on my cisco switches? We are experincing Spannigtree "storms" and hoping this might help with the recovery times when spannigtree has to recalculate.
Re: What are the disadvantages of enableing backbone fast and Up
these features will NOT help to prevent SPT loops. you need to find the root cause of it. this will help in recovery times in normal scenarios but will not prevent the loop. I would suggest finding and fixing the root cause of the loop.
I would suggest that you use UDLD, loopguard, rootguard, bpduguard features to prevent the loop.
