What causes lost fragments and reordered packets in a ppp multilink bundle

Router#sh ppp multilink

Multilink2, bundle name is border-7204-1-rtr-sy

36 lost fragments, 15204641 reordered, 0 unassigned

3 discarded, 21644 lost received, 130/255 load

0x2FCD0E received sequence, 0x41C961 sent sequence

Member links: 4 active, 0 inactive (max not set, min not set)

Serial5/1/0/27:0

Serial3/1/0/17:0

Serial11/1/0/22:0

Serial10/1/0/28:0

I have read that some reordering is okay, but several hundred per

minute on 4 MLPPP T1s seems excessive.

Re: What causes lost fragments and reordered packets in a ppp mu

If the T1 links are delivering the

packets out of order, then the "reordered"

count will increment. You could

verify that the T1 links are clean and

free of errors, otherwise your carrier

might be able to do some tests for you

to compare the latency figures for the T1's.

You could also remove one T1 at a time

from the group, to try and narrow down

which one is introducing the most re-orders.
