What does this error message mean??

Hello,

Does anyone know what this message mean?? We have cisco7500 with two OC3 interfaces. These messages came from one of the interfaces. I tried to find some information about these error message from cisco website but no luck so far.

When we received these messages, we got a lot of CRCs and path errors on controller.

Does this mean we have a bad OC3 interface??

Any suggestion, advise or comment would really appreciated.

Not necessarily, but certainly possible. Your Bit Error Rate threshold has been exceeded and as a result, a Transmission Convergence protocol alarm has been declared. You will likely need some downtime to figure out if it is your controller. If this circuit is leased, your telco can tell you whether the errors are occuring somewhere on one of their spans of if they are coming in from one of your pieces of end equipment. Unfortunately, BER threshold can be for any one of a great number of reasons.

To add on to what svermill said, chances are your controller/interface is OK. Since you saw a Path error, and did not see any section or line errors, the problem is beyond your router, and the next SONET device it is connected to. Whoever is in charge of your line (telco) would be a good starting point. You might also want to check and see what the device at the other end of the OC3 saw.
