What happens if a router

receives a packet larger than the defined MTU size and has the df (don't fragment) bit set to true? Will the router drop the packet?

Thanks

Re: What happens if a router

The packet is dropped and an ICMP destination unreachable (type 3) fragmentation needed and don't FDF was set (code 4) is sent back to the source IP address.
