what is an ospf demand circuit? Is there any reason to use this on a dedicated circuit?

On a HSSI (direct DS-3) interface I see " ip ospf demand-circuit" configured. Is there any reason to have this on a dedicated circuit? Whenever the OSPF neighbor tried to come up I'd get error messages. I took the demand-circuit off and instead put "ip ospf network point-to-point" in which case the OSPF neighbors came up.

Ip ospf demand circuit is used mainly for dial-up

situation where ospf lsa flooding might constanly

keep the link up.

This command make sure that routing updates received over this

link do not age and also suppress ospf hello flowing over the

link and bringing up the isdn dial up.

You definately do not need this on dedicated circuit..
