what is the best protocol to be used for interconnecting 27 ospf domains (each domain is running ospf process and have 7 areas with about 80 routers))

what is the best protocol to be used to interconnect 27 ospf domains using one core router , if each domain is an ospf process of 7 areas and about 80 routers.

Re: what is the best protocol to be used for interconnecting 27

Ospf is still good enough to scale your network

but you need to redesign.

80 router means you need to have about

8 Routers Per Area which mean you need ten areas plus an area 0

Make the core router connect to only 8 Routers , each from one area and representing

the ABR. Summarize Routes on each ABR ( Hope you planned for summarization)

if this can't be done the you would need to break the ospf domain into separate

routing processes say 1,2,3,4,5,6,and 7 and connect each ABR for an area to the Core device

with BGP.

You have to redistribute ospf 1 into BGP and BGP into ospf 1. do the same for 2-7 processes.

I agree with the previous answer. If you have planned for and do 'Route Summarization', you can still use OSPF to connect that many domains.
