what is the complication of having two the Redundant Supervisor Engine

Hi,

Little question. To your experience, what is the complication of having two the Redundant Supervisor Engine in CatOS switch are in different Software Release. I have pasted below the output for "Show Module" for out Cisco-6009 switch. I also high lighted the Fw for the modules 1 & 2, in red color.

Your software is the same on both modules? Hardware and firmware are different.

The problem with running different revisions is that the two cards may behaive differently in the slightest way. You may not have problems during failover, but you may. You may find out that different revisions interperate your config in different ways. You should test failover for peace-of-mind but should be aware that your redundant sup may not work properly after the primary fails.

Hardware and firmware can be different. Hardware version cannot be upgraded, however the firmware can be(not a neccessity though). You can find requirements for redundancy at
