what is the effect of issuing clear ip nat translations * on users?

Hi all,

probably a dumb question. What is the effect on ongoing usage by inside NAT clients if you issue a clear ip nat translations * on the router?

Will the existing translations recreate themselves or do the users basically have to restart their activity?

All current (TCP-) sessions will terminate. In IP nets this usually has the effect that all telnet and ssh sessions are gone, ftp transfers interupted etc. Web surfers usually do not notice.

Many people have to restart their activity, especially telnet/ssh-using programmers and text editors might remember your name for a while, so try it off-peak after informing your colleagues.
