Re: what is the error message "%RSP-3-FOREVER" in 7513 router?

Since the router crashed, was a crashinfo file created on the bootflash or flash card? You want to capture 'show stack', 'show align', and 'show tech' and open a TAC case if you don't have access to CCO or need assistance troubleshooting. If you have CCO access you can use the output interperter tool to get the 'show stack' command decoded into possible bug matches.

If you haven't rebooted the router manually yet, 'show version' will have a reason for reload. This is useful information for TAC as well. The tracebacks indicate a possible software problem. This is fairly new code so there may be issues with some of the features, etc you're using. There is a 12.2(13)T1 available now.

You can set up a exception dump also. This will cause the router to write a dump file to a ftp/tftp server next time a crash occurs that may provide useful information. the URL below explains how to set this up.

Error Message

%RSP-3-FOREVER

: cmd [int] to [chars] (slot [int]) took [int] usecs, done [hex]

Explanation A command from the RSP to an IP took longer for the system to process than expected. This condition may be caused by a heavily loaded CPU.

Recommended Action If this error recurs, copy the error message exactly as it appears on the console or in the system log, enter the show tech-support and show logging commands, contact your Cisco technical support representative, and provide the representative with the gathered information
