Hi,

A stack-master is useful because using that master device you can configure all the member device of that stack.

From the stack master you can configure:

-System-level (global) features that apply to all stack members

-Interface-level features for each stack member.

For more refer the following link:

Hope this helps.

Re: What is useful of a stack-master on Sw3750G?

HI weerapa,

to say in simple, Master switch is selected on the following basis,

1.switch-up time

2.MAC Address

3.S/w Version

4.configuration

advantages of stacking.

1. with single IP u can monitor maximum of 9 stacked switches in 3750.

2. all the stacked switches will act as 1 single switch with 32Gbps of back-plance capacity for better performance rather than cascading the switches.assume that u hav 2 switches with 24 ports, with each switch stacked, the switch will act as 1 single 48 port switch.

3. when you stack the 2nd switch or 3rd & so on, u need not configure anything, juz plug & play.

hope this might be helpfull,
