What's difference between "num-exp" and "translation-rule" for VoIP?

Hi All,

Does anybody know what's the difference between "num-exp" and "translation-rule" for VoIP, I am confused about that and I think they have the same function. Can anybody tell me when to use "num-exp" and when use "translation-rule" in VoIP thank you!

Best Regards

Num-exp is pretty much simple in syntax as well as operation wise.

Num exp expands the dialed pattern to the specified digits in the same command.

Tranlation rule is much more complex. Hope this link helps in understanding more on translation rule.
