what's the mean?? arp 0000.0000.0000

Hi all,

when i issued by sh arp on cat4507, some of the arp entry showed me it's mac address 0000.0000.0000.

actually, these hosts not turn on. but i can ping these address. that is, someone response to me with the ping.

here is the output on cat4507.

Does anybody have the same experience of this?

Please let me know...why the arp address dispalyed with 0000.0000.0000

Hi john...

The 0000.0000.0000 indicates that the router is currently unaware of the MAC address...

Can you examine arp packets by using following command.

debug arp

Let me know how it goes!
