What tools can tell whether you are using primary line or ISDN backup?

I am using leased line to connect my remote offices to HQ. All the leased line are backup by ISDN. Is there any tools which can inform me via email or other means about whether I am using leased line now or ISDN backup? In other words, any tools which can inform me when the primary line is down and the ISDN kick in?

Thanks a lot.

Re: What tools can tell whether you are using primary line or IS

Hello,

I use Whats Up Gold from Ipswitch. There are several alert features on this product: e-mail, pager, window pop-up and even if you have a sound card in it their are automatic voice messages telling when a device is up and down.

DFM from LMS treats ISDN as backup line and genarates "backup activated" alarm when bearchannel becomes operationally up.

You can configure the trap for isdn call-information in your router.

This trap will be sent to your management software or station and it could trigger an alarm, an email or whatever

May I know what is the command for configuring traps in router?? I configured "snmp-server enable traps snmp" but it seems like my management software never receive any notice from router when the primary line is down.

Re: What tools can tell whether you are using primary line or IS

I send you several commands, the ones we have configured and it's working fine:

snmp-server community your-SNMP-comm-name RO (or RW)

snmp-server enable traps isdn call-information

snmp-server enable traps isdn layer2

snmp-server enable traps isdn chan-not-avail

snmp-server host the-ip-address-of-your-management-software your-SNMP-comm-name
