What ways are there to give an administr. shutdown other than typing it ?

Are there other ways to give an administrative shutdown to an interface besides typing the 'shutdown' command?

Perhaps via SNMP or are there other ways to accomplish this? Is it perhaps possible that a system event can generate a shutdown command on an interface?

Re: What ways are there to give an administr. shutdown other tha

You can shutdown ports vian SNMP if needed , of course you need the read/write strings to do this . Second question is yes I have seen where certain conditions will automatically shutdown a port , usuaully an error condition of some sort .
