when moving a serial interface (530 ) from a 7500 router to a 4000 router it doesnt work.

I'm trying to move a 530 serial interface from a Fast serial Interface processor an a 7500 router to a cisco 4500 router. when I move the cable the 4000's interface shows UP / UP, but does not respond to a ping. All the controll leads are showing up. the only differance I see int the interfaces are the 7500 uses CXBUS and the 4000 uses HD64570.

Re: when moving a serial interface (530 ) from a 7500 router to

If the interface is up/up, and keepalives

are enabled, the layer1 is OK. You

should ensure:

- an IP address is configured on the

serial interface of the 4500

- the interface is clear of errors and drops

- confirm if you can ping beyond the 4500

- "debug ip icmp" to see what is being received
