IPv6 traffic forwarding does not impact Layer 2 LAN switches, because these devices do not need to look at the Layer 3 header to forward an IPv6 frame; thus IPv6 hosts can be transparently attached to the following Cisco products:
1.Cisco Catalyst 2900XL Series Switch
2.Cisco Catalyst 3500XL Series Switch
3. Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series Switch
4. Cisco Catalyst 5000 Series Switch (EOL)
5. Cisco Catalyst 6000 Series Switch
It also depends upon the current IOS version you are using in 4500 switches. And for your info, the IOS version
12.2(25)EW or above supports Ip V6 for 4500/4000 series

Hi :
IPv6 in hardware will be supported in late CY2006 most likly on new supervisors. IPv6 is supported in software today . Use 12.2(25)EWA4 or 12.2(25)SG for software based IPv6 support.
thanks
