Whether QOS a must ??

I am planning to implement Vlans by replacing the existing flat network topology since we are adding 60 IP Cameras. So, I have allocated separate Vlan for the IP Cams video traffic and one Vlan for Voice and this is for later use.

Now I am confused and don’t have any idea whether to apply QOS to the video Vlan or to all the Vlans which is found in the entire network or leave without applying any thing as we do for normal Vlans.

If i have to apply the QOS, can any one suggest how to apply and can u send me some sample docs and configs regarding QOS and its stuffs.

Thanks in advance

Rajesh

Re: Whether QOS a must ??

HI Rajesh,

This link will help yoou all what you want to know about QOS on 3550 switch

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/1219ea1/3550scg/swqos.htm

You can very well implement QOS on all your VLANS depending upon the type of traffic which your specific VLAN will carry.
