Which Catalyst model allows transmitting on a SPAN port?

Hi Experts.

I need to design a CiscoIDS-based solution for a Customer and I will need a Catalyst switch.

As far as I know, all Catalyst models will allow the CiscoIDS to *receive* traffic on a SPAN port but not all of them will allow the IDS to *send* packets on SPAN ports (bidirectional SPAN port). Am I correct? Which models support bidir SPAN ports?

Also, which models support private vlan or protected port?

Thank you

michele

The 3550 running IOS 12.1(12c)EA1 and later has support for IDS repel/report traffic, specifically. It isn't general input-packet support.

CAT OS based switches support inpkts on SPAN destination port which will allow the SPAN destination port to received traffic.

CAT4k with Sup3/4 support similar feature starting 12.1(19)EW

Hi.

Thanks for you answer.

I've heard that the cat3550 too supports inbound packets on SPAN ports.

Can you please confirm?

Thank you
