Which Product ? Router or Switch ?

I need to route 8 separate class C ip-networks - no vlans. Which product is the best? When I had to route 3 or 4 networks i used an 2611XM Router with a 4-Port NIC. But with 8 networks !? I dont need BGB or OSPF, just static routing.

Can I solve this with an C3550-24-EMI switch?

What would you suggest?

Thank you,

Re: Which Product ? Router or Switch ?

I just want to let you know that Cisco's interperetation of a VLAN is a subnet/network.

The 2611XM should be able to do intervlan routing via subinterfaces so you won't need any additional hardware. I don't think it will do port-channelling so this will limit your inter-vlan through put.

The 3550-EMI is the better choice for this solution offering many Gb/s through put however you will have to employ VLANs.
