Which routing protocol to use ???

Anyone please help how do I decide which routing protocols (RIP,IGRP,OSPF...) in designing my routing environment ?

If I have two 3620 routers connected by a dedicated leased line, what sort of routing protocols should be used here ?

Help out.

Re: Which routing protocol to use ???

it depends...

how many networks do you have on each side ? You could just use default route on one side if other side has the internet connectivity.

You could static routes or EIGRP.

RIP/IGRP is not recommended typically.

Give us more information about the network topology and other considerations.

Right. First question you need to ask yourself is, "do I need a dynamic routing protocol at all?" If you have a simple, stable topology, then a couple of static routes on each end may be all you need. Simple to set up, and no extra overhead.

If you decide that you do need a dynamic routing protocol, then there are plenty more questions to ask, but let's start with the basics.
