which switches to buy:

Hello everyone,

I have a simple question: we need to connect 4 switches for a small network about 10 connections on every switch. Two of the switches need to connect via multimode fiber optic cable and the other two a simple 10/100 uplink. What equipment should I specify?

Re: which switches to buy:

2 2950G-24-EI Switch and 2 Catalyst 2950-24 Switch.

2950G-24-EI Switch will give you 24 10/100 ports and 2 GBIC ports while 2950-24 Switch will give you 24 10/100 ports. They will give you ability to expand if needed.

Hi Friend,

Looking as per the requirement and thinking of future expansion 2950-24 or 48 port switch will be the best option for your network.

Have a look at this link for all the details on 2950 switch and different models with different capabilities

Hi,

In addition to the above post by Ankur, I would suggest to have a look at the new 2960 series switches launched by Cisco. You can also go for 2960's to meet your requirements.
