Why a Trunk Link elevates so much the % CPU of a Catalyst ??

I have a 2980 Catalyst with 2 users connected and 1 trunk link.

I have noticed that when i connected the trunk link the CPU of the Cat is in 75 %,,, and when i disconnect the trunk the % down to 12 %..

Why a trunk link causes this elevation in the CPU %??

i have 78 port disables on the Catalyst.

This is a UTP trunk, configured whith 802.q and im passing a Vlan database of about 30 Vlans, with VTP version 2.

do you need all 30 vlans, if not manually prune the unwanted vlans. also are you running multicast on your network.
