On 3750 or 6509,I can see interface up/down information after I plug fiber or UTP cable. But I can't see that on 4510R.
I have configed logging level to debugging.

Hi Henry,
Sorry, on the 4500 switches, it's an interface command:
4510-A(config-if)#logging event ?
link-status UPDOWN and CHANGE messages
nfas-status NFAS D-channel status messages
subif-link-status Sub-interface UPDOWN and CHANGE messages
trunk-status TRUNK status messages

Bobby

Hi Henry,
In global config mode, you need to configure the following:
Router(config)#logging event link-status

trap Set syslog server logging level
4510R(config)#logging event link-status

I am not sure whether it is needed on other switch platform. Which platform need this command for loggin interface up/down information except 4500 ?
thanks!

Hi Henry,
I believe it is required for all switch platforms, although I will admit that we are not always consistent with this.
It's documented for the 6500:
"The link state messages (LINK-3-UPDOWN and LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN) are disabled by default. Enter the logging event link status command on each interface where you want the messages enabled."
HTH,
Bobby
