Why route can't convergence ?

IP of 4506-A is 10.1.1.242 and IP of 4506-B is 10.1.1.241. There is loop about 10.1.254.0/24.

I configed vlan 254 (ip is 10.1.254.0/24) on 4506-A and 4506-B, then no int vlan 254 on both 4506. But 10.1.254.0/24 is still exist .

Like this:

4506-B#sh ip eigrp to | b 10.1.254.0

P 10.1.254.0/24, 1 successors, FD is 2816, UR

via Connected, Vlan254

****I had deleted vlan 254, why there is still exist ?

4506-B#sh run int vlan 254

^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

4506-B#

4506-B#sh ip route con | i 10.1.254

4506-B#

4506-B#sh ip route | i 00:00

D 10.1.254.0/24 [90/3072] via 10.1.1.242, 00:00:00, Vlan1

4506-B#

4506-A#sh ip eigrp to | b 10.1.254

P 10.1.254.0/24, 1 successors, FD is 2816, UR

via Connected, Vlan254

4506-A#sh run int vlan 254

^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

4506-A#

4506-A#sh ip route con | i 10.1.254

4506-A#

4506-A#sh ip route | i 00:00

D 10.1.254.0/24 [90/2562816] via 10.1.1.241, 00:00:00, Vlan1

4506-A#

Is there any bug about that ?

thanks!

Re: Why route can't convergence ?

Hi,

Does that entry disappear after a while ? What happens if you do a 'clear ip route 10.1.254.0 255.255.255.0' ?

Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.

it disappear then appear again,I do 'clear ip route 10.1.254.0 255.255.255.0' , but it appear again.

4506-B#clear ip route 10.1.254.0 255.255.255.0

4506-B#sh ip route | i 10.1.254

D 10.1.254.0/24 [90/3072] via 10.1.1.242, 00:00:00, Vlan1

Re: Why route can't convergence ?

What does 'sh ip route | i 10.1.254 ' on 4506-A give you ?

Re: Why route can't convergence ?

same result:

4506-A#sh ip route | i 10.1.254

4506-A#sh ip route | i 10.1.254

D 10.1.254.0/24 [90/2562816] via 10.1.124.241, 00:00:00, Vlan1

4506-A#

and it is unstable,it appear and disappear again and again, route time is 00:00:00 for ever.

I think that reason of problem is why IOS think vlan254 is connected although I had deleted vlan254.

Re: Why route can't convergence ?

Yep. It looks like a bug of some sort. I'm sure a reboot will fix it, though.

Re: Why route can't convergence ?

I think that also. But 4506 is production enviorment. So I hope there is any other solution.

thanks

Re: Why route can't convergence ?

Just thought of something.. why don't you place a distribute-list on both switches that blocks this address but permits everything else ?

Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.

Re: Why route can't convergence ?

Yes,maybe it is temporary solution. I don't do that because distribute-list will interrupt communication of EIGRP shortly.

thanks!

I guess you have to weigh up which one is the lesser evil !

Pls do rate posts that have helped.
