My 5500 (Cat OS 4.4(1) has a RSM (IOS 12.0(10)W5(18a) - Enterprise version) installed and MLS is enabled for inter-vlan traffics. It was working fine for over 1.5 years and lately it started to give me the following:
MLS-5-ROUTERDEL: Route Processor [XXXX] deleted -
Then about 5 to 10 seconds later:
MLS-5-ROUTERADD: Route processor [xxxxx] added
Whenever this happens, my users got connectivity problems untill I manually cleared all the MLS entries.
What is (are) the cause(s) of this? and what should I do to prevent it from happening again?
Thanks

There is a bug (CSCds07183) that has been fixed in 4.5(10) that might be what you are seeing. Here is a snipet from the release notes:
Also, when a 'show mls entry' is issued on the Catalyst, and the screen output
is paused with -More- at bottom for more then
one minute, these messages appear:
2000 Jul 05 16:13:57 nzst +13:00 %MLS-5-ROUTERDEL:Route Processor
10.177.134.1 deleted - dead router timer expired
2000 Jul 05 16:13:57 nzst +13:00 %MLS-5-ROUTERADD:Route Processor
10.177.134.1 added
Please note that this bug addresses a fix for this issue on the CatOS side. A
2nd bug has been created as well to incorporate a fix for this issue on the RP
IOS side (see CSCdy14544). In oder to remedy this issue the fix for this bug
on the CatOS side and the fix for CSCdy14544 on the RP IOS side should both be
in place.
This also might be the RP (RSM) bug mentioned below (CSCdy14544) which has not yet been resolved. Did you recently enable MLS? I would be surprised if nothing
in the configuration has changed in 1.5 years and it all of a sudden started doing this. DDTS CSCds07183 has an in depth explaination of why this occurs.
Hope this helps,
Don

Thanks for all the info.
But for bug CSCdy14544, I found no info in the "First Fixed-in Version" box. Any info on this?
Thanks.

CSCdy14544 is not yet Resolved. It is still in an Assigned state and will not have
and integrated release.
CSCds07183, on the other hand, is fixed in 4.5(10).
Hope this helps,
Don
