We are looking to deploy Cisco Works in our network. We have around 2000 nodes/objects in the network. I would like feedback as far as which OS is better for this application, UNIX or Windows? Please provide pros and cons of either platforms. Thanks.
Well IMO, in general, if you can afford a UNIX platform, go with it. You'll be dealing with a much more powerful OS and a more stable environment. Most companies go with Microsoft because they "know" it and it is fairly cheap to operate. From last I heard all Cisco development is done on 2000, then ported to Sun. So there may be a slight lag in versions.
