WINS missing when dialling with WinME

Hi

I have a dial scenario with a 3725, 4x BRI and MICA modems, where I terminate digital and async calls. Authentication and Authorization happens over ACS 3.2.

Dialling in (analog) and getting IP, DNS and WINS succeeds with Win2k and XP. Only when I dial-in with Win ME, the PC doesn't register the WINS servers (IP and DNS will show up in winipcfg).

What's the problem?

I work with the required commands:

async-bootp DNS-server 1.2.3.4

async-bootp nbns-server 1.2.3.4

Thanks for any hint.

Need to see the IPCP negotiations during PPP phase. So enable following debug

debug ppp nego

debug ppp authentication

Dialin from WinME and capture it and post it here. compare the same debug with XP/Win2K dialin too.

Thanks for your response, tepatel. When I look at the debug, it seems to me that everything is fine, the WinME Client even ACKs the WINS addresses. Still, winipcfg doesn't register them.

What could be wrong? Does Cisco have hints how to customize ME so it stores and uses the WINS proposal from IOS? Does anybody have similar experiences?

Here's the debug for the ME box:

You can see from the debugs that in both the cases, router has allocated Primary WINS and DNS server as 192.168.20.19 anlso secondary as 192.168.160.11. So i think its the issue with WinME as routers prospective, its allocating all the ip address requested

Problem is solved.

Deleted the IP stack on the ME machine and reinstalled it, and here we go.

Thanks for all replies.
