I have a LAN with a locally configured WINS server. The LAN consists of several VLANS. There is a DHCP server in the Central Office which is linked to the LAN via E1 circuit. So the clients in the LAN get their IP, Def Gtwy, DNS IP, H-node type & WINS IP of locally configured WINS; from the DHCP in CO.
The clients get all the setting sfrom the DHCP correctly and they point to the Local WINS server to register their NETBIOS names. When I check the WINS server its database it is also populated with all the clients that are online. WINS server is also reachable by the cients.
The problem is even if the clients have registered their names in the WINS when I do a network neighborhood browse I cannot see any other computers. But if I do a search computer I can see the machine.
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong here!!!!
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
