Workstation IPX address?

How does a workstation get its IPX address when the server isn't on the same segment as the workstation but is across a router from it?

Re: Workstation IPX address?

An IPX address consists of two components - a network portion and a host portion. The host portion is simply the MAC address of the NIC. The network address can either be configured in the client or discovered off the network (the router or a server will advertise this).

In your case, the router should be configured with an IPX network address on the interface connected to the workstation. The workstation will figure out its network address from here.
