2 NIC, 1 IP

I was planning out a new computer installation with a customer. The customer indicated that they had purchased the newest CISCO Switches and that they would like to have both NIC in one computer use the same IP. I have not encountered this before. What is this technology called and is there a pointer to some documentation regarding it? Prior to this discussion, the customer had indicated that the NIC would be on different subnets. This new requirement kind of caught me unaware. If the switch supports it, I don't see an issue in setting it up that way. Conmputer hardware consists of multiple RS/6000.

Not sure why they would want to do this, but if it is to increase throughput, certainly on Sun Solaris you can use trunking to aggregate bandwidth from server to switch. Have a look at

Not sure about RS6000 though ...

Yes Catalyst Switches do support a feature called trunking with which you can do this.
