Hi
I have a PIX 515 UR...even after having a UR why is the 3DES in the Show ver showing as Disabled?
Any ideas?

Hi,
Try using the activation-key command for 6.3 code - But if you running 6.1 or below code then please check the following URL:

Am runnin 6.3 code...and hve the activation-key command...So do i need to purchase a new activation key for 3DES to be enabled...i thought when i order for a UR i would be have 3DES...is'nt it ?
Do i have to pay for a new activation key or i can get it with CCO login id?

3des used to be a separate software license - totally unrelated to UR vs. R license status. Cisco made it a free upgrade a few months ago.

that is the link. you need to fill that out, get an email from cisco. then use the activation key command, and reboot the pix at your leisure, and then strong crypto is yours
